Meet The Team
A
ANNE STEVENSON

Approach
Anne’s practice focuses on evaluating movement patterns unique to each person in order to identify problem areas leading to pain or injury. After this initial assessment, she creates a treatment plan that is at once highly individualized and holistic. Movement, after all, is more than the sum of its parts. Anne’s thoughtful treatment plans reflect the human body’s complexities.
Anne demands both the best in herself and her clients. She knows that setting long-term goals is just as important as celebrating short-term successes. What is a realistic future goal? What milestones will mark progress along the way? By partnering with patients to develop a highly personalized and holistic approach to treatment (and sharing in the joy of achievement along the way), Anne often develops close working relationships. She is proud that her client-centered approach results in lasting relationships with her patients and their family members.
Experience
Anne’s physical therapy background has included outpatient clinics in Michigan (the Detroit area and Macomb County) and Florida (St Petersburg). Since 2004, she has practiced in the Ann Arbor area, with a focus on clinical setting and private practice. Anne has a passion for treating the spine and is one of just three physical therapists in Washtenaw County certified in the Schroth physical therapy method, which addresses spinal rotation by correction of the pelvis, ribs and shoulder alignment.

SARAH BAIRD

Approach
Sarah’s philosophy of practice is to find the athlete in any body. She then helps her clients to discover their untapped sources of strength, grace and focus to restore their body and spirit. It is an approach that has positively defined her own life, one she discovered in her early teens after a childhood of being chosen last on teams of all kinds. Once she discovered the athlete inside herself—that is, a confidence in her physical abilities together with disciplined training—she began to excel at sports that her younger self would have considered unattainable. Today she competes in triathlons and especially enjoys downhill skiing, cycling and tennis.
Experience
Sarah’s clinical physical therapy background has focused primarily on outpatient orthopedics with an emphasis on the treatment of spine injuries (neck, mid, and low back pain). By empowering patients to commit to a carefully tailored exercise plan, she has found success coaching even severely disabled individuals through treatments, allowing them to see how they can manage and reduce pain by building strength, stability and flexibility.
Education is key to her client-centered approach, and her work in the health and wellness field during the past 20 years has included teaching courses to general audiences and professionals in post partum exercise and injury prevention. In addition, she has been an accomplished fitness instructor and coach in both community wellness and private settings. Her popular classes have included indoor cycling, strength and conditioning, and Pedaling for Parkinson’s.

KARI WADDINGTON

Approach
Kari relies on her 26 years as a clinician, continued educational pursuits, and her own first-hand experience as an athlete to inform her ever-evolving training model. She has spent most of her life looking for any and every endurance challenge. Since the age of 14, she has competed at every triathlon distance, from sprint to Ironman. Over the years she has enjoyed skiing, hiking, open water swims, CrossFit competitions, and has run 27 marathons to date, most recently celebrating a milestone birthday with a 50Km run.
As an aging athlete, she is increasingly, sometimes painfully, aware of the wear and tear on the body and the necessity of greater attention to the smallest details in order to continue pursuing one’s fitness goals. Her goal is to optimize several key aspects of fitness: spinal stabilization, joint mobility, dynamic balance, metabolic conditioning, nutrition, and functional strength. She believes that women and men of all ages are capable of improving their quality of life when they learn to move correctly, and move often.
Experience
Kari has worked as a physical therapist in settings ranging from long term care to outpatient orthopedics, with special interest in the spine, shoulders, and women’s health. She has also applied her knowledge of biomechanics and the musculoskeletal system to her work as a certified strength and condition specialist, Crossfit coach, and private personal trainer.
